שוני
Genesis 46:16 names him as a son of Gad; his siblings were Tsiphyon (צפיון), Chagi (חגי), Etsvon (אצבון), Eri (ערי), Arodi (ארודי) and Areli (אראלי). These Yud (י) endings intrigue me, for they are not common, and in most cases they recall a different name, eg Yehudah's son Er/ער, Arvad who is written the same as Arodi - ארוד - and Ard - ארד. Is this in fact a clan or tribal denotion, in the same way that we see Kena'ani for Canaanites and Chori for Horites, et cetera? The only argument against this can be found in Numbers 26:15, where both the man and the clan are given as Shuni (שׁוּנִי, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַשּׁוּנִי).
