Genesis 10:13: a tribe out of Mitsrayim (1 Chronicles 1:11), which is to say an Egyptian tribe, probably the region east of Pelusium by Lake Serbonis; one of the strong candidates for the real route of the Exodus from Egypt.
The name may link to Nephet (נפת), the wife of Typhon, who is Nebthet in the Egyptian, Nephthys in the Greek - see NAPHTALI.
