Resen

רסן

Genesis 10:12: one of the ancient cities of Ashur (Assyria) attributed to Nimrod; located "between Ninveh (Nineveh - נינוה) and Kalach (כלח)".

The root is Rasan (רסן) = "to bind with a cord or muzzle", whence Resen = a "bridle" or "halter".

Cf Isaiah 30:28; Psalm 32:9; Job 30:11.

Job 41:5 also uses it to mean the inner part of the mouth (i.e. where the "bit" is put when muzzling a beast); in this case the double row of teeth of the crocodile (כפל רסנו).
