Genesis 22:24 names him as a son of Nachor (נחור), Av-Raham's brother, by his concubine Re'umah (ראומה). His siblings were Tevach (טבח), Tachash (תחש) and Ma'achah (מעכה), the latter almost certainly female.
The name means "having flaming eyes".
