Esek

עשק

Genesis 26:20 names it as a well dug by Yitschak in the Negev, close to the city of Gerar of the Pelishtim. The name means "strife", and a suitable story of inter-bedouin strife is told as aetiological evidence. Yitschak seems to have spent most of his adult life striving over his father's wells. Indeed, other than his youthful near-sacrifice and his part, as an old man, in the cheating of Esav, he has no significant role in the patriarchal story whatsoever.

There is no etymological connection between Esek and Yitschak.
