Genesis 10:18 has ha-Arvadi (הארודי) as a son of Kena'an (Canaan) - cf 1 Chronicles 1:16.
It is almost certain that Arvad is a variant pronunciation of Arod (the Vav can be pronounced either way), linking it to Arodi or Arvad (ארד), a Phoenician island off the Mediterranean coast of Syria; the word means "a place of fugitives", probably because it was established by fugitives from Tsidon (Sidon) - at least according to Strabo.
Cf Ezekiel 27:8/11.
