Genesis 36:40 names him as one of the Edomite chiefs who came from Esav.
1 Chronicles 1:51 changes the Vav to a Yud, calling him Aliya (עליה), though some translations retain Alvah, reckoning - and it occurs throughout the Tanach - that the Yud is in fact a scribal discrepancy, Yud (י) and Vav (ו) being remarkably similar.
