Genesis 10:13 names them as a people of Mitsrayim (Egypt), descended from Kush, which makes them interesting because of the on-going dispute over the geographical location of Kush. Some texts insist that it was in Mesopotamia, and may have been a variation of Kesed, which we call Chaldea; others insist that it was the ancient name for Ethiopia - and there is absolutely no reason why it couldn't have been both. Just as there are, today, cities named Tripoli in both the Lebanon and Libya, just as there is a Georgia in the Caucasus and another in the United States of America, just as there is a London in Ontario as well as in the UK, can there not have been two places named Kush in the ancient world as well?
